Emily & Mark
Barmbyfield Barns, York
Emily and Mark began their day at The Fat Badger, nestled beneath York’s ancient walls. The inn was a glorious setting for the couple’s preparations, with period features, art in gilt frames, and opulent wall colours. Emily was joined for the morning by her sister and best friend. Her brother Ed was to play several roles on the day; he was the chauffeur in the bride’s own car, but also ‘Father of the Bride’, his third time in the role despite not yet having children! Mark enjoyed the morning with his best-woman sister.
The happy couple were wed at St John the Baptist Church in Kirk Hammerton. The church holds great significance in Emily’s life, having been her family’s church growing up and the resting place of her and her sibling’s mother. Emily’s mum was included in the day with her favourite colour and flowers, as well as certain traditions that she had started, such as dessert provided by all of the guests. The wedding party honoured her by placing sunflowers on her grave after the ceremony.
Emily and Mark chose to celebrate their wedding day with a reception at Barmbyfields Barn outside of York. Despite being in the midst of a very damp August, the weather held. Whilst storms raged across the rest of the country, the couple were treated to magnificent skies, pierced by occasional shafts of golden light.
Guests had a wonderful time with the games offered by this sport-loving couple. Mini golf, badminton, and the Yorkshire obsession of cricket allowed Chris to discover his inner sports photographer!
With music in abundance, love in droves, and laughter resounding, Emily and Mark’s wedding was a day to remember. We were awed by the emotion on display and would like to thank Emily, Mark, and their friends and family for the hospitality they showed whilst we worked to capture their big day.
