Beth & Emily
East Afton Farmhouse, Isle of Wight
Two Brides for Two Dresses
Beth and Emily were married on a glorious late August day. Having photographed their pre-wedding party the evening before, we felt excited for their big day. Bright and early on Saturday morning, Chris and I headed to East Afton Farmhouse.
This Isle of Wight wedding venue holds significance: it was the site of the 1970 Isle of Wight Festival. This particular wedding fell on the 51st anniversary of that most significant music festival, promising a stellar event.
Both Beth and Emily prepared for their ceremony in the main house. Emily and her bridesmaids used a first-floor bedroom. Beth and her bridal party used a lovely lounge overlooking the garden. Consequently, Chris went upstairs to photograph the larger, slightly more raucous group of women. Meanwhile, I photographed Beth’s preparations below. Music blared all over the house! Milo, their miniature dachshund, and a few small children excitedly moved between the rooms.
Two brides meant two dresses in this instance. With a little help from Em’s mum and a bridesmaid, the wedding dresses met for a photo before the brides did!
Beth and Emily’s ceremony was bespoke and beautiful. Both brides chose to walk down the aisle. Em was accompanied by her father and Beth by her grandfather. Their good friend and fellow miniature dachshund parent, Katee, conducted the ceremony. As both brides and many guests work in sport, Katee’s background in promoting equality in that field made her the perfect celebrant choice.
Ceremonial Sparkles
Golden August sunshine bathed the back garden of East Afton Farmhouse as everyone gathered for drinks and games. The beer pong tables returned, alongside croquet and another game with sticks I didn’t recognise! Speeches were peppered throughout the proceedings. These started in the garden, whilst a paraglider floated silently over the countryside beyond.
The evening progressed with a delicious wedding breakfast provided by Kevin Hendy and his team. Beth and Em delivered their emotional final speech, thanking all of their guests. Then, the partying began! Dancing was raucous, drinking swift, and laughter was in abundance. This wonderful wedding day ended with a sparkler parade and a mystery… Who burned Em’s hair?!
Chris and I had a wonderful time photographing this union. Thank you for having us as part of your day.
Amazing Vendors
The couple has kindly given permission for any vendors to use the wedding photos for their own promotion. Please use the contact form to send us your email, and we will ensure you receive them. Thank you for providing wonderful things for us to photograph!
Em’s wedding dress came from Bradgate Brides. Beth’s dress was one of only three by Maggie Sottero, with professional alterations. Bridal shoes were supplied by Lace & Favour. The groomsmen’s suits came from Next.
Beth’s ring was from F. Hinds. Em wore her Grandmother’s ring, dating from the 1940s. Friends completed both brides’ makeup using products from Charlotte Tilbury. Charlotte’s Academy styled their hair. The bridesmaids wore comfortable PJs from ASOS and Monsoon.
Florist Jordan Knight provided the stunning bouquets. Wed and Prosper supplied props, decorations, and the sparklers, whilst also providing crucial on-the-day coordination. Guests danced the night away to the sounds of Jaycee.
